The best and worst of Oscars fashion

All of Hollywood’s A-listers glided down the red carpet sporting the newest creations from top designers. And on Sunday, Feb. 22, they did not disappoint. The stars of the 87th Academy Awards brought a spectrum of style choices- for the better and for the worse.

Emma Stone

Emma Stone

Starting with my personal favorite of the night, Emma Stone looked stunning in a custom Elie Saab floor length gown. The dress made her red hair stand out. It was a perfect choice for an award show like the Oscars.

Chrissy Teigen

Chrissy Teigen sported another one of my favorite looks. This well-known face for “Sports Illustrated” was seen with her husband John Legend in a Zuhair Murad, risque-styled gown. The thigh-high slit made the dress an eye-catcher, making many wonder if the star would have a wardrobe malfunction. However, the long-sleeved, icy design proved extremely flattering on Teigen.

Lady Gaga

Lady Gaga

Almost all of the stars who crossed the red carpet impressed me, except for Lady Gaga. This singer is always a head-turner at events like these, and she did not fail to do so at the Oscars. She paired a white Azzedine Alaia dress  with what looked to be red dishwashing gloves. Lady Gaga had a few critics to say the least. MTV News wrote, “she could easily go from tonight’s celebration to washing dishes/grabbing pans from the oven without a single costume change.” Although she put on an amazing performance for the 50th anniversary of “The Sound Of Music,” this outfit choice will have her fans and critics alike talking for months.

Giuliana Rancic

E!’s “Live from the Red Carpet” co-host Giuliana Rancic was first seen, via social media, rocking a Steven Khalil high neckline gown. This white-lace, embellished dress gave Rancic a flawless appearance. The celebrity then took another fashion twist and arrived on the red carpet in a Mireille Dagher sheer gown, paired with gorgeous Saint Laurent heels. She could not have looked better in either dress.

Gwyneth Paltrow

Gwyneth Paltrow

Actress Gwyneth Paltrow looked absolutely stunning in a blush Ralph and Russo gown. This one-shouldered dress stood out from the typical attire worn to the Oscars. Despite its simplicity, it flattered her physique.

Although my top award shows for fashion have passed already, make sure to catch the Kids Choice Awards and MTV Music Awards this spring for other unique designs.
