Johnny Manziel will defy expectations

The 2014 National Football League Draft has been quite exciting. There were some unexpected and obvious picks, as there are in every draft, but this draft was one of the most unique in terms of this: nine football teams in desperate need of a quarterback passed up on Johnny “football” Manziel.

Manziel won the Heisman award his freshman year at Texas A & M, an award given to the most outstanding college football player – no ordinary feat. He then went on to throw for 7,820 yards and 63 touchdowns during his two years at Texas A & M.

The Cleveland Browns ended up selecting him with the 22nd pick in the first round.

While Manziel might be a little bit over-hyped, this kid has a lot of talent. I’m talking about being able to launch the ball from anywhere on the field to a receiver, and if left without an open one, he can just sprint up the middle for 15 yards.

He was the best quarterback in this draft without a doubt, but the Jacksonville Jaguars passed up on him and chose quarterback Blake Bortles with the third overall pick. That is just insane.

Even Cleveland made an idiotic move by choosing cornerback Justin Gilbert with their eighth pick, even though Gilbert would have still been there by the 22nd pick.

The reason that Manziel intrigues me so much is that, even though he is only six feet, he still manages to surpass everyone’s expectations and simply destroys defenses’ secondaries. He is a creative player rather than a fundamental player, and he has a great IQ for the game as well. I predict that Manziel will have a field day against against defenses, especially with wide receiver Josh Gorden making big plays on deep passes.

There are a lot of comparisons to Tim Tebow for the young Manziel, but that will only add fuel to the fire. Manziel will surpass everyones expectations, and one day become a legend in Cleveland. He might even become more legendary than former Cleveland Cavaliers star LeBron James.
