First semester at a glance
First semester came to an end a little over a month ago. The events that took place during our first fully in-person semester after the pandemic maintained the history of Naperville North High School, but also made some new history. Here is a rundown of a couple NNHS events from September through December, with an accompanying photoslider:
In September, North’s boys football kicked off their first regular season home game against Glenbard North. Although the Huskies fell short with a final score of 31-36, the Dawg Pound was excited to show their support for the team. At the end of the month, Naperville North experienced a bomb threat that postponed and later cancelled the entire school day. This was just one of the multiple threats NNHS experienced in first semester alone. (Slide 1-2)
In October, the Huskies started out the month strong with a boys football crosstown win against Naperville Central. The Dawg Pound came to support the team in all white at the Benedetti Wehrli Stadium located at North Central College. During homecoming week, North hosted its annual “Mr. NNHS” competition on the 13th, where senior boys competed in a pageant to be crowned “Mr. NNHS.” (Slide 3-4)
In November, the month started with a little bit of relief among the class of 2022 after most early action college deadlines passed on Nov. 1. The Boys soccer team qualified for super sectionals and played against Morton High School on the 2nd. Despite the frigid night and upsetting end, the Huskies worked hard and had a lot of encouragement from family and friends. (Slide 5-6)
In December, the promising girls basketball team continued their season throughout the month with hopes of competing in the state competition. On the Dec. 15, all students received their second semester schedules, with the newest schedule change being homeroom. (Slide 7-8)
With many highs and lows throughout the first semester, it was one for the books. Now on to the exciting potential second semester holds for the Huskies!
