NNHS dealing with yet another student death
A Naperville North freshman died suddenly Tuesday morning, school officials said. This is the fifth sudden student death at NNHS since December of 2015.
Teachers and staff were notified about the death through an email sent by NNHS Principal Stephanie Posey. Teachers read an announcement aloud to their second period classes to inform students. No cause of death was listed in the announcement.
In many cases teachers and students learned of the death at the same time.
In an email sent to parents, Posey said there are additional counselors, social workers and psychologists at NNHS Tuesday, and they will remain there as long as necessary.
If you or someone you know is in need of help, call the DuPage County Health Department Crisis Intervention Unit 24-hour hotline at 630-627-1700.

Former NNHS Student • Apr 13, 2018 at 10:19 pm
I am a graduate of NNHS (Class of 2008) and I am so heartbroken with the news I have heard coming out the school in the last few years. We did not in anyway have these problems when I was there and my guess had to do in large part that our principal (trumper) knew what he was doing. He had a solid hold on the school and was liked by many. Also, social media was in its very early stages and is not what it has become today, i think things like Facebook and snapchat are to blame as well. But there should be no excuse for 5 deaths in 3 years… get your act together and stop putting so much stress on the students.

i have no words
if we could’ve noticed the signs earlier
then we could’ve stopped this
i don’t know whether to feel angry, sad, or pitiful
because i feel all three, and when there have been five. five deaths, since december 2015, then it angers me to realize that most have been suicide.
student stress and apathy has risen and i can feel it, and it’s the worst to learn that another stunning soul has been taken from the same high school. over. and over. and over.
next year i will be a freshman there, and i beg for one thing
north. change.
