‘Immortals’ proves to be immortal

By Amanda Spizzirri and Claire Ruggerio

Greek mythology, sculpted men, and a steamy romance – what’s not to love?

The Immortals premiered November 11th and claimed the top spot at the box office that weekend.

At $32.2 million, it is the second-highest opening for an R-rated 3D movie ever; which is impressive, especially since it was released by Relativity Media which is not a big six studio. Although Immortals made less than half of the revenue that 300 did (a very similar film), it received a high rating from viewers everywhere.

I must admit, I predicted just another fantasy-adventure film, with so-so battle scenes and relatively cool effects; but I was quickly corrected.

Immortals was what I would like to call, a cinematic gift from the Gods.

Take an action film, make it R-rated, add tasteful gore, and a sexy love scene and you’ve got a damn good movie.

From a female stand-point, the men in this film were more than gorgeous.

Although I cannot deny the exquisite body on Gerard Butler from 300, The Immortal’s Henry Cavill did not disappoint. A fresh actor with a fresh body – mamma likey.

But not just the girls in the theater were satisfied. Spoiler alert: there is a BUTT-load of Freida Pinto … you’ll know what I mean.

Anyone that knows a thing or two about Greek Mythology will be satisfied with these effects.

Tears streamed down my cheek at the recreation of this ancient tale; such beauty is not experienced enough in one’s mortal life.
