Former North assistant coach and player faces child pornography possession charges

On Thursday, the DuPage County State’s Attorney’s Office announced possession of child pornography charges against a former Naperville North High School assistant boys basketball coach.

According to a press release, Jelani McClain, who is also a former Naperville North student, has been charged with seven counts of Possession of Child Pornography, a Class 2 Felony.

“I would like to note that these charges are in no way connected with Mr. McClain’s association with Naperville North High School,” DuPage County State’s Attorney Robert Berlin said in the release.

The Naperville Police Department received an online tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children concerning an IP address possibly engaging in child pornography, authorities said. The press release alleges that after obtaining a search warrant for McClain’s residence, several images and videos of child pornography were found.

“We are cooperating fully with the investigation,” Dan Bridges, District 203 Superintendent, said.

McClain is set to appear in court on June 10. His bond is set at $150,000.
