District 203 delays start of school year to Tuesday, Sept. 1
The District 203 Board of Education pushed back the start of the 2020-2021 school year to Tuesday, Sept. 1.
The later start date allows district officials to amend the Return to Learn plan to account for new information released by the Illinois State Board of Education and the Illinois Department of Public Health. The district will revise the Return to Learn plan to allow students access to “specialized programs” in the Online Academy plan, such as Advanced Placement courses and the Dual Language program.
In an email sent to all District 203 families, Superintendent Dan Bridges stressed the importance of maintaining student safety in the school year.
“While our ultimate goal remains to return to full, in person learning, our pathway to get there must be open to change based on new data and updated guidance,” Bridges wrote in an email sent to all District 203 families.
The district will release an adjusted calendar on Monday Aug. 3, and more updates to the Return to Learn program will be released later this week.
