Run to Remember aims to raise awareness for mental health and suicide prevention
This Sunday, Nov. 17, the Run to Remember will be held at Naperville North High School. In 2018, the Naperville North boys cross country team created the Run to Remember organization in hopes of raising awareness for mental health and suicide prevention. The nonprofit is an organization led by students in memory of Lucas Gerber, former NNHS student and cross country runner. The run begins at 7:30 a.m. on Sunday, with registration opening at 6:30 a.m. When you pre-register online, the registration fee is $25, and is $35 onsite the day of. Following a speech from U.S. Congressman Bill Foster, the run will begin at approximately 7:45 a.m. The run is a 5k, and runners of any skill level may participate at their own pace. Awards are expected to begin at approximately 9 a.m. All proceeds go to the Hope For The Day Foundation, a suicide prevention and mental health awareness foundation, and the Megan Meir Foundation, a foundation focused on ending bullying and cyberbullying. Natalie Bovin, contributor to Run to Remember, said that the run means a lot to her and everyone involved in planning it.
“It’s an amazing way to remember Lucas and to show the community that his memory and the impact he had on all of us will never be forgotten,” said Bovin
