Huskies hit the runway for the 19th annual Senior Fashion Show

Naperville North’s senior class took to the runway this past Sunday at Bobak’s Signature Events in Woodridge for the 19th annual Senior Fashion Show, taking place from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. The event served as a fundraiser organized by the NNHS Booster Club to raise money for team events, transportation, new uniforms and equipment.

The event began with a performance from the NNHS Jazz Band and time for attendees to place their bids on raffle items. After a luncheon, the seniors walking the runway and the event ended with the raffle items being handed out.

The raffle items were donated from several organizations, including Cress Creek Country Club, Kilwins Confections and Ice Cream and The Morton Arboretum, among others. Naperville North’s Dance Team and other school clubs also donated raffle items to the event. The items themselves ranged from Chicago Bulls tickets to baskets full of Illinois State University spirit wear.

Lisa Moore, the raffle committee chair, assembled the baskets together with Holly Sturtz, another parent volunteer.

“Holly and I were able to go out [with the money donated] and buy items to make themes [out of the baskets],” Moore said.

On the runway, students modeled reputable brands, such as Peaches Boutique, Athleta, Tommy Bahama and Men’s Wearhouse.

Students were nominated by teachers, notified weeks beforehand to participate in the show and attended two run-throughs before the fashion show itself.  While the models walked, emcees Julia Cameli and Nick Trattner announced each model’s favorite teacher at Naperville North, favorite moment and plans for the future.

Sophia Cook, a senior that modeled Peaches Boutique, was initially nervous about the event.

“Some people got to go first so they got it out of the way, and I was waiting for some time, but in the end it was really fun,” Cook said.

The models all walked down the runway together at the end of the show in matching shirts with the theme “Hooray for Hollywood.”
