1. Family-Friendly Haunted House

Looking for a family-friendly way to visit a haunted house? One of the nation’s best-decorated houses is located right here in Naperville. Featured on national television, Naperville resident Nick Thomas has pride in his Halloween decorations. The display contains more than 750 items and entertains the entire family. There is no cost. The house’s light show starts at 6 p.m. and ends on 9:30 p.m. on weekdays, and 10:30 pm on weekends. You can visit the house on 1127 Conan Doyle Rd.

2. Downtown Naperville’s Halloween Pet Parade and Costume Contest

If you enjoy dressing your dachshund up as a hot dog or if you just love seeing pets clad in spooky costumes, visit downtown Naperville on Thursday, Oct. 30. Hosted by the local pet boutique, Two Bostons, you and your four-legged friend can parade the streets of downtown Naperville. Step-offs are at 5:30 p.m. and 6:15 p.m.

3. Haunted Halloween Lights Tours

Can’t decide on one attraction? The Naperville Haunted Halloween Light Tour will take you on an hour-long journey through Naperville to see some of the best decorated attractions, including the Thomas house. Tours start at Aurelio’s Pizza (1975 Springbrook Square in Naperville) at 7 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. Tickets are $15 and must be bought online.

4. Ogden 6 Friday Night Frights

Too cold for trick-or-treating? If so, visit Ogden 6 Theaters this Friday, Oct. 31, at 10 p.m. for the last Friday Night Frights event to view the horror film “Scream.” Tickets are $5 per person.

5. Zombie Containment – Navy Pier

Not in the mood for Statesville Haunted Prison? Zombie Army Productions, the producers of Statesville, have created another one-of-a-kind haunted house event in Navy Pier, Chicago. Located on a barge in Lake Michigan, Zombie Containment is Chicago’s only floating haunted house attraction. The event offers two tours: “low scare” (lights on) and “high scare” (lights off). Here, guests experience an interactive atmosphere where zombies destroy the nation. Tickets start at $12 and are available here.
