Good news for students who “run on Dunkin'”

Good news for students who run on Dunkin

Naperville North students who start their mornings with iced coffee and jelly-filled doughnuts can now get their fix at a different location.

Dunkin’ Donuts recently opened a new location on the southeast corner of Washington Street and Hillside Road. Previously, the only Dunkin’ Donuts location in proximity of NNHS was near Columbia Street and Ogden Avenue, an area that proved to be treacherous for months due to construction.

For many NNHS students, the new location is more accessible on their daily route to school. Some First Class leaders, such as executive board member Jacob Triplett, said the new location provides a shortcut for picking up Munchkins on late arrival mornings.

“I live closer to this one,” Triplett said. “It’s on the way to school, and it’s going to make the commute much easier.”

Michael Anderson, a junior and a self-proclaimed “coffee addict,” is also excited about the new location.

“It’ll allow me to wake up later because the construction [on Columbia] has been kind of a hassle, so it will probably help a lot,” Anderson said.

Junior JJ Zamora works at the Dunkin’ Donuts on Ogden, but does not see the new location as competition.

“All the Dunkin’ Donuts in the Naperville area kind of work together,” Zamora said. “We try to box out the competitors such as Starbucks Coffee or Peet’s Coffee.”

Zamora said the new location will support other Dunkin’ Donuts in the area by encouraging business.

“If you live ten miles away from a Dunkin’ Donuts, it’s really hard to drive up there if you live closer to a Starbucks,” Zamora said. “With the new location in the area, customers are more willing to go to Dunkin’ Donuts.”
