Spring dance prompts creative proposals

With the spring dance just around the corner, girls at Naperville North pulled out all the stops to ask their dates in a fun way. Here are some of the most creative proposals.

The Sports Reference

College

Knowing about his enthusiasm for college sports, specifically at The University of Tennessee, freshman Maddie Rediehs decided to allude to the sports team while asking freshman Marcus Lemanski to spring. All decked out in Tennessee spirit wear, Rediehs greeted Lemanski with a poster that said, “be the only ‘TEN I SEE’ at spring?” The clever combination of Lemanski’s interests and classic puns played out to be both thoughtful and witty.

The Group Effort

Orchesis

When senior Cassidy Kohls was brainstorming ways to ask senior Joe Gissler to spring, she decided going all out was a must. Kohls and Gissler have been dance partners several times throughout senior year during events like the dance team and football team performance at the Homecoming Assembly and the Orchesis show. During Orchesis tech rehearsal, Kohls scouted out the help of fellow Orchesis members in order to stun Gissler with the big proposal. “It was a big surprise on stage with all of our friends,” Kohls said. With all of the dance expertise, the pair will surely steal the spotlight this Saturday.

The Inside Joke

Drewcup

NNHS holds pride in its many traditions and quirky idiosyncrasies, whether they’re school wide or within clubs. One of NNHS bands’ most loved of these is tagging clothes pins onto each others’ clothing at practices without the target knowing. Last October, senior Taylor Kroma devised her scheme to ask junior Drew Soukup to spring. She knew she wanted to include the inside joke in her asking, and spent months concocting the perfect plan. Kroma was delighted by how smoothly the process went and Soukup’s positive reaction. The anticipation made the whole experience more thrilling, according to Kroma.

The Perfect Location

This February, the Naperville North Marketing and Advertising classes took a trip to Disney World in Orlando, Florida. Junior Maddie Krejci saw this as the perfect occasion to “make her dreams come true” and ask senior Griffin Brown to spring. The most magical place in the world unquestionably made for a picturesque Instagram post, with the iconic Cinderella Castle and bright lights in the background.

The Scavenger Hunt

Hunt

After numerous Pinterest searches, junior Julia Neuman was inspired to put together a personalized scavenger hunt for junior Nate Hankin. Through multiple clues and presents, like a free bowling game and Los Taps gift certificate, Neuman finally lured Hankin to the NNHS football field. In Neuman’s opinion, the many steps that Hankin had to complete along the way made the whole experience more exciting.
