Downtown Naperville is constantly changing. New businesses, boutiques, services, and restaurants continue to move in and out, making downtown far from boring.
Two new businesses opened up within a few doors of each other, along with a third expected to open sometime this month.
B Happy Café, located at 206 S. Washington St., opened July 13 this year. In a Naperville Sun article, the owner Michael Prince described B Happy Café as a “Sweet Treat Parlor that offers low calorie and guilt-free frozen yogurt deserts. B Happy Café has self-serve frozen yogurt in three sizes without scale for pricing dependent upon weight.”
Not only does B Happy Café sell frozen yogurt with over 40 toppings to choose from, but they also sell cupcakes and self-serve smoothies.
“You get the smoothie just how you want it. Where else are you going to get a chocolate chip mint or a salted caramel smoothie just how you want it,” said Prince.
Diabetic or lactose intolerant? B Happy Café offers flavors specifically designed for dessert lovers with diabetes and lactose intolerant limitations. The restaurant also offers gluten-free items.
According to Prince, the café will soon offer a new way to satisfy your sweet tooth.
“B happy will be start delivering frozen yogurt and cupcakes right to your door or school. It’s the best of both worlds,” Prince said.
According to Prince, the café will also begin selling doughnuts in the next few months.
“We are always evolving and looking for what the consumer wants. We are figuring out ways to be unique and different,” said Prince.
B Happy Café isn’t the only restaurant to open its doors on Washington recently.
Eggs, Inc. is a breakfast and lunch restaurant, new to Downtown Naperville. Eggs, Inc. is one of the few breakfast and lunch restaurants that offers outdoor seating in the downtown area. Gus, Peter, and Bill Vassos, who own the first Eggs, Inc. in Bolingbrook, will manage the restaurant located at 220 S Washington St.
The café offers 17 different style omelets, over half a dozen of crepes, pancakes, and skillets. Eggs, Inc. offers wheat and multigrain mixes for those who want to be healthy, and according to Vassos, they are also strengthening their gluten-free menu. Vassos said tilapia and various gluten-free salad combinations will be available for breakfast and lunch.
“We are always up to date with the trends; it’s what people want,” Vassos said.
The newest addition to Downtown Naperville should open its doors to the community mid-September. The General Store will be located at 204 S. Washington St. two doors down from B Happy Café and a few doors down from Eggs Inc. Glenn and Debra Anton own and run the old fashion, country store. The General Store has a variety of affordable merchandise. Penny candy, handmade candles, old time children toys, food and bath toys are just some of the items sold.
“The goal is to make a fun store with a retro, nostalgic feeling that captures the historical style of Naperville,” said Anton.

I had no idea some of those stores were even there, and I work downtown Naperville. Just shows that it pays to look around!
