According to Ryan Drendel, junior student government representative and head chair of the AIDee’s dance, the annual dance will take place outdoors after the home football game against Thorton this year.
The dance will begin after the senior night game in a tent within the football stadium, according to Student Government Sponsor Brain Nierman.
“We hope [these changes] will revitalize the night. Being outside after a fun game should make the dance more fun,” Nierman said.
The dance was scheduled to take place this Friday, August 30th, but the date has since changed to September 6th. Drendel said the change was made to avoid conflict between the dance and the NNHS football game which will be held away at Neuqua Friday night.
According to Nierman, this decision was made by both the Student Government and approved by Student Activities Dean Jennifer Baumgartner.
In addition to the dance, the football game will also be 80’s themed, Nierman said. Though admittance to the football game will still be charged, those who dress up in 80’s clothing will receive free admission to dance. If not, the regular price for entry to the dance will be $2.00.
Drendel said the dance will begin upon conclusion of the football game and will end at 10:30
Many students view these as welcome changes, including Sophomore Hannah Micheau.
“Lots of kids like to go and support the football games, so it will definitely get more students to come out for a good cause,” said Micheau.
According to Drendel, the dance is completely non-profit. All ticket sales and donations will go to UNICEF.
