The following statement was posted on the district website, which is “experiencing technical difficulties,” just before 6:00 this morning.
District 203 schools ARE CLOSED today.
Eagle Street, Main Street, Jefferson Avenue, and Washington Street bridges in the downtown area of Naperville each remain closed as of 5:30 am. The City does not have an estimate at this time as to when they might be reopened and officials indicated some or all of them may remain closed into the afternoon. In addition, a portion of Naper Blvd remains closed. Several roadways continue to have high standing water.
These closures will have a significant impact on our ability to transport students to and from school today. Because of these closures, students that walk to school through the downtown area of Naperville will not be able to cross the river.
The City of Naperville has requested everyone take alternate routes to avoid the downtown area. Please consult the District’s website for updates and the City of Naperville’s website for updates regarding downtown. We encourage all families to please review the City of Naperville’s Road Closures Map at: http://gis.naperville.il.us/mashups/flood/ before leaving your home at any time today.
Information about activities will be updated before 2:00 pm today.
