The new craze for online browsing and shopping has taken the Internet by storm and it goes by the name of Wanelo; which stands for what a user wants (wa), needs (ne), or loves (lo).
Although it is not the first website of its kind, Wanelo is much different than those that came before it. Unlike its predecessors, such as sites like Pinterest, Wanelo not only allows users to browse and search items and shops, but it also contains links to where people can actually buy the products.
“I like Wanelo because I haven’t seen anything like it before except for Pinterest, but it’s not like you can order any of the stuff you see on there,” said Junior Julia Frankel.
The site comes in the form of a smart-phone app for easy access and also can be found on the Internet.
How it works is that users can create an account with their email and follow other people, sites, or stores at their own desire. Then, the user can create different categories to sort their products such as the pre-sets “Want It” or “Buy It”, or they can create one of their own. As an added bonus, users can create a “Wish list” so that their followers can see and buy products that they like.
Additionally, Wanelo is user-friendly in the sense that one can buy and search for clothes by category, rather than spending hours searching for the product online. For example, if one were to type in “Prom Dresses”, hundreds of pictures of prom dresses with links to where one could find them would appear on the screen.
Senior Colby Drohan is a die-hard user of Wanelo, and although she really likes the site for online shopping and following fashion trends, she does believe it has some faults.
“I don’t like the misleading prices and the fact that you can’t get some products because they are no longer available,” said Drohan.
