Auditions for this year’s musical, Legally Blonde, were held in early January. Students are anticipating the release of the cast list, which NNHS Choir teacher and musical director, Nicholas Janssen, will distribute next week, to the students who auditioned.
For these students, the audition experience has been one of excitement and self-discovery. Junior Sienna Mills hopes this year’s musical will bring her a greater theatrical success.
“I want to get a lead before I graduate,” said Mills.
Junior George Lowery has something different in mind in terms of his goals for this year’s musical.
“I’m looking to step outside my comfort zone this year,” said Lowery. “I hope auditions will lead me to a good part.”
Senior Jacob Livingston is hoping for the lead role of Emmett in this musical. He believes his audition went well, but there’s always the feeling of unease.
“I thought I did well in the first few dances,” Livingston said. “On the last one, I completely forgot the dance, but I caught up at the very end, which I was thankful about.”
Some students are using the musical as a means of growth. Legally Blonde is the first musical that freshman Laura McDowell has auditioned for.
“This is the first thing I’ve been involved in, so I’m pretty excited,” said McDowell.
For sophomore Olivia Kennedy, working to the fullest of her potential is her primary goal.
“I’m someone who’s willing to put the hard work in to get the results I want,” said Kennedy.
