In the early hours of Saturday morning February 4th, tragedy struck close to home to the North Central and Naperville Community as they mourn the loss of a former student and first-year teacher at Spring Brook Elementary School.
Shaun Wild, 24, lost his life attempting to resolve an argument at Frankie’s Blue Room in downtown Naperville where he was fatally stabbed in the chest. Two other men were injured as well in the incident, North Central senior William Hayes and Frankies bouncer Rafael Castenada.
Many grieved wild’s sudden death.
“Everyone seemed to come together to support the family and everyone effected. A lot of people had changed their Facebook picture to our NC logo to show support,” said North Central student Kathleen Fultz.
Last Saturday North Central held a prayer service and Monday many teachers had had a moment of silence in their classes.
The funeral service will be held on Friday February 9th for close friends and family in Wild’s hometown Brown Deer, Wisconsin. However, there will be a public memorial service Thursday, February 8th at Brown Deer High school. Many students from North Central are choosing to attend. The college provided transportation to and from the service.
Updates on future memorial services plans in this area will be given when the Wild family feels it is right.
This untimely and tragic event has left Naperville City Council member Doug Krause wanting to revise the new regulations that are to go into effect in May, allowing bars and restaurants to close their kitchens to focus on the sales of alcohol.
Yet many other members believe Krause is making a quick reaction to the incident without knowing all the facts.
On Saturday Daniel Olaska, 27, a former Naperville North student was taken into custody and charged with first-degree murder and two counts of attempted murder. His bail was set at 3 million. He is to appear in front of a judge March 5th.
