The Downtown Naperville Committee recently announced that a new Barnes & Noble will be opening in April of 2025 at the address of 9 W Jackson Street.
The news came almost a year after the company shut down its original location on South Washington Street. The iconic store was a popular spot among Naperville residents for over 25 years, with its closure garnering the attention of book lovers and casual visitors alike. The new location will be one of many additions that the Naperville Committee has planned to open in 2025, including an Abercrombie & Fitch, which has already opened, and Le Macaron, a French bakery. Popular social media page Naperville Now explains why residents of Naperville should look forward to Barnes & Noble setting up shop once again.
“Just steps from its original spot … [it’s] bringing back the bookstore vibes we all missed,” Naperville Now said in an Instagram post.
Although the official designs of the store are still underway, it is predicted to look much like many other locations Barnes & Noble has established over the years. As seen on the Barnes & Noble website, the new Naperville store can be expected to resemble many of the corporation’s other 2025 additions. A modernized version of a café and ample seating will provide an excellent source of leisure for all ages. Space for community events, such as book signings and featured merchandise, will also be available.
As more innovative stores join the area, downtown Naperville will continue to be a hub for community gatherings, blending together tradition and originality. The reopening of a Barnes & Noble location has already begun garnering interests. Naperville North junior Abby Corbett describes her excitement for the future store as details continue to be released.
“As an avid reader I am extremely excited that a Barnes and Noble is [opening] close to my home,” Corbett said.
