2019 welcomed new music from Ariana Grande, Chance the Rapper and Billie Eilish, as well as movies like “Joker,” “Toy Story 4” and “Rocketman.” TV shows like “Game of Thrones,” “Stranger Things” and “You” introduced new seasons, while “The Politician,” “The Mandalorian” and “Living With Yourself” made their debut.

Already in 2020, there have been newsworthy releases: music from Khalid, Mac Miller, Selena Gomez, Quinn XCII and Halsey; TV shows such as “Spinning Out,” “Cheer” and “Dracula”; and movies such as “The Grudge,” “Bad Boys for Life” and “Like a Boss.” As January comes to a close, the excitement of the new year has well died out. However, there is still so much to get hyped about for 2020. We’ve accumulated a list of the most anticipated movies, music and TV shows that 2020 is supposedly bringing to the table. So renew your Spotify and Netflix subscriptions and borrow your neighbor’s Hulu password, because the new year promises much to come.

“A Quiet Place Part II”

It’s hard to keep quiet about this sequel to the 2018 thriller “A Quiet Place,” but if you want to survive, you’re going to have to. “Mulan”

Based on Disney’s 1998 animated film “Mulan,” a live action “Mulan” is expected to be released this March. This remake has been in the works since 2010, making for a highly anticipated, action-packed adaptation of a childhood favorite. There are multiple changes to the original plot in this remake一 instead of facing Shan Yu, Mulan will fight against a powerful witch, and instead of falling in love with Captain Li Shang, our powerful heroine looks to find love with a fellow soldier. “Gretel and Hansel”

This fantasy thriller is based off of the German fairytale “Hansel and Gretel” but takes a more horrific approach to the story of this brother and sister. “Ghostbusters: Afterlife”

Who you gonna call? Everyone you know. This remake of the 1984 classic “Ghostbusters,” is sure to excite you and all of your friends. This new take has us counting down the days until summer for more reasons than one. Finn Wolfhard, one of the beloved teenage stars of “Stranger Things,” as well as Paul Rudd and McKenna Grace are starring in this modern spin on one of America’s most beloved classics. “West Side Story”

This reboot of a classic musical follows two star-crossed lovers from rival street gangs, Tony (played by Ansel Elgort) and Maria (played by Rachel Zegler), as they struggle to balance their love and family loyalties. I don’t know about you, but I’ve been on the edge of my seat waiting to find out if Noah and Elle will be able to make their relationship work. With “The Kissing Booth 2,” we will watch as Noah goes off to Harvard and the pair navigates long distance. “To All the Boys: P.S. I Still Love You”

This highly anticipated sequel to the Netflix original “To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before” will be released in February, hopefully answering all our questions surrounding Lara Jean’s love life. Which boy will she choose? What will the Covey girls face next? Will there be a new love interest? “All the Bright Places”

Based on the bestselling novel by Jennifer Niven, Netflix will be releasing an original adaptation of “All The Bright Places” in February. This coming-of-age drama covers a wide variety of issues relevant to teenagers today, from relationships to childhood trauma to mental illness.

Release Date: April 24, 2020

The 1975 has announced the release of a new album titled “Notes on a Conditional Form” for 2020. The band has released four tracks to accompany the album, including “People,” “Me and You Together Song,” “Frail State of Mind” and the opening instrumental, which has gotten fans excited for the full album. 

Justin Bieber 

Release Date: TBD

The 2008 YouTube sensation hasn’t released much music since his “Purpose” album in 2015. However, we’re expecting to see more from Bieber in 2020, as his new single “Yummy” came out on January 3 and a full album is expected this year.

Kesha

Release Date: Jan. 31, 2020

The clock has been ticking as fans await new music from Kesha: the 32-year-old singer-songwriter released a single back in December, “Resentment,” and announced her upcoming album just a week later. Kesha’s album “High Road” will be available for streaming starting Jan. 31. 

BTS

Release Date: Feb. 21, 2020

South Korean boy band BTS, or Bangtan Boys, has taken the world by storm, producing not only viral music but also TV shows, documentaries and YouTube series. The K-pop stars announced the release of their newest album, “Map of the Soul: 7,” which will be available for streaming Feb. 21. 

Adele

After a five-year music drought, our longtime favorite Adele will be adding to her series of albums in 2020—each title matching her age at the time of production. The English singer-songwriter’s manager confirmed the release is set for this year. 

Louis Tomlinson

Release date: Jan. 31, 2020

Continuing his solo career post-One Direction, Louis Tomlinson will be releasing his debut album “Walls” at the end of January. Directly following the debut, Tomlinson will be beginning his world tour that will carry him through the summer. 

Meghan Trainor

Release date: Jan. 31, 2020

Singer-songwriter Meghan Trainor is continuing to send her fans messages of empowerment with her upcoming album “Treat Myself.” Earlier this month, Trainor revealed names for 14 of the 15 tracks on the album, one of which includes the iconic Pussycat Dolls.

Tame Impala 

Release date: Feb. 14, 2020

The less we know won’t be better in this case—psychedelic rock group Tame Impala will be releasing their first album since 2015. The long-awaited album titled “The Slow Rush” promises new songs following a series of singles released throughout 2019.

Alicia Keys

Release date: Mar. 20, 2020

This girl has been on fire with several successful singles, but hasn’t released an album in four years. Alicia Keys will be releasing ALICIA, her self-titled album, in March. Following the release is her world tour that will begin in June. Her seventh studio album, ALICIA is expected to blow the charts away. There’s nothing— and we mean nothing— this girl can’t do.

Conan Gray

Release date: Mar. 20, 2020

Young singer-songwriter Conan Gray aims to tell his fans stories of his life in his debut album “Kid Krow.” At just 21 years old, Gray has gotten the world’s attention, even serving as an opening act to Panic! at the Disco in 2019.

“BoJack Horseman”

Following part one of the sixth and final season of this popular Netflix animation, part two will be released January 31, as “BoJack Horseman” fans mourn the end to this incredibly popular show. The show follows BoJack, a 50-year-old former sitcom star, as he attempts to write a memoir. The release of the second part to this final season is approaching quickly, so get binging ASAP because you do not want to miss this.

“Euphoria”

Fans are pretty euphoric for the second season of this HBO teen drama coming later this year. Season one follows 17-year-old Rue as she strives for her sobriety after being in rehab. The series covers an array of realistic teen issues such as drug use, sexuality, mental illness, relationships and trauma. Starring Zendaya, it’s no surprise Euphoria is getting so much attention. 

“The Mandalorian”

Air date: Fall 2020

It has to be said: we’re all obsessed with Baby Yoda. Well, we have good news for Star Wars fans (or just fans of this cute creature in a robe); season two of the Mandalorian is coming this fall. Season one of the show, set between the fall of the Empire and the emergence of the First Order, follows a Mandalorian bounty hunter traversing the galaxy. A date has yet to be specified, but we cannot wait to see what season two will bring.

From English class to mainstream television, adaptions of “Brave New World” revive the long-studied utopian classic without the last-minute Sparknotes-ing before a test. Originally a novel by Aldous Huxley, “Brave New World” on NBC’s new streaming service Peacock looks to enlighten, horrify and disgust a new generation of consumers with a terrifying future, coming this spring.

“Hunters”

That Amazon Video account you have but never use is about to come in handy. Taking place in 1977 New York City, a group of Nazi hunters become aware of a potential Fourth Reich and set out to conquer these conspiring Nazi Officials. If you’re a historical fiction junkie—or just love a good thriller—”Hunters” might be perfect for your 2020.

“Katy Keene”

“Katy Keene,” the upcoming musical comedy-drama, follows Katy Keene (Lucy Hale) and Josie McCoy (Ashleigh Murray) as they follow their dreams of becoming a fashion designer and singer/songwriter respectively, while navigating love in the city. Similar to the popular teen drama “Riverdale,” the 1940s Archie comics also inspire this new series, and we’re counting down the days until its release in early February.
