Historic year for North’s dance team ends with state title
Last weekend, the Naperville North Dance Team headed down to Bloomington, Illinois and capped off their season with a 3A State Championship title for the first time in NNHS history.
The Naperville North Huskies finished first out of 30 competing teams and danced their way to a final score of 95.42.
This was North’s first-ever dance championship, and finally being able to finish at the top after advancing to the state competition the past two seasons was a signal of the team’s growth.
“After four years on the team, it was so cool to win state this year,” senior Emma Connelly said. “Our team has grown so much over the past few years and I am so thankful I was able to dance with all of these girls this year. It was truly something special that I am so glad I got to share with them.”
The team performed to Ruelle’s “Live Like Legends,” which was an accurate representation of their mindset all season.
“We don’t get to pick our song, but this year it related so much to our team and how ready we were to show people what we could do,” junior Julia Sassen said. “Our coaches knew that this year could be huge for us, so ‘Live Like Legends’ was something they wanted us to always have in mind.”
