Big Ten schools under one roof at NNHS

Many high school students are familiar with the pressure of college. It can be a draining process, between applying to, visiting and choosing schools. But this year, Naperville North is trying to make it easier.

On Sept. 24 at 7:00 p.m, NNHS will be hosting an event in which all 14 of the Big Ten colleges will be present. Students of all grade levels from both NNHS and Naperville Central are welcome. Each university will have their own booth for students to talk to representatives, from Nebraska to New Jersey.

Due to the event being so large, it will more than likely not happen again.

Student Services Director Jeffery Farson explained the difficulty of organizing the event.

“Getting this coordinated and getting all the schools to come has been kind of a puzzle,” Farson said.

Students and parents are encouraged to attend. Between 15 to 20 percent of students at Naperville North end up going to Big Ten schools, according to Farson.

Counselor Molly Murray believes this event is one of the easiest ways to explore college possibilities.

“There is really no reason not to go,” Murray said. “It is in your backyard and we’re bringing it to you.”
