Off campus eats guide

Off campus eats guide

Seniors, you’ve made it through three grueling years of eating Sodexo food at lunch every day and the ultimate reward is now tangible: off-campus lunch.

With the wide variety of restaurants near Naperville North, picking where to go to lunch can be a huge stressor. To help guide your search, here are my top five choices for off campus lunch.

CHIPOTLE

Cost: $8-10

Location: 28251 Diehl Road, Warrenville, IL 60555

Commute time: Five minutes

My pick: Steak burrito

Health tip: Trade cheese for guacamole and a burrito for a burrito bowl to save 310 calories, 25 grams of fat and 36 grams of carbs.

MCDONALD’S

Cost: $5-8

Location: 516 River Road, Naperville, IL 60563

Commute time: Three minutes

My pick: French fries

Health tip: Instead of McNuggets, try a premium grilled chicken sandwich (no mayo) and save 14.5 grams of fat while adding 14 grams of protein. Not bad for adding only 20 extra calories.

CHINESE KITCHEN

Cost: $8-10

Location: 1003 W Ogden Ave, Naperville, IL 60563

Commute time: Two minutes

My pick: Fried rice

Health tip: Say yes to the tea and no to the egg roll.

JERSEY MIKE’S SUBS

Cost: $8-10

Location: 111 E Ogden Ave #109

Commute time: Two minutes

My pick: #2- ham, capicola, provolone

Health tip: Get the California Dreamin’ for 495 calories, 9.5 grams of fat, 32 grams of protein.

STANDARD MARKET

Cost: $13-18

Location: 1508 Aurora Ave, Naperville, IL 60540

Commute time: Eight minutes

My pick: steakhouse burger

Health tip: Get your omega 3’s and antioxidants with the Mediterranean salad.

If none of the above are pleasing to you, or you want to save your money, try eating at home. Even better, pack a sack lunch and try to find a friend that lives close.
